Latin American dances are usually done in pairs, although they are often done in groups. The steps and the musical style change according to the country of origin. The rhythm and speed make the dance very intense and apparently almost uncontrollable. Physical prowess can be crucial in some figures, but it does not need to be the master. Latin dancing is synonymous with joy, happiness, and an expression of vitality. The clothes must therefore be suitable for the situation. However, the most important thing remains to choose clothes that do not hinder movements too much, that is light and almost not felt. The dresses with a short skirt with rhinestones and diamonds are on sale, but for those who don’t want to exaggerate too much, here is a small list of how to wear Latin dance costumes.
You will need:
It is essential to find a comfortable dress that at the same time is elegant, even if whimsical, but above all that does not impede movement. It doesn’t have to be too tight in general, although key points need to be stretchy, like the waist and hips. The movements must be free and light. The dress must not get in the way. Usually, a dress that does not exceed the knees and that is not exactly tight is preferable. In case it is too short, you can wear culottes or a body, so as not to have thoughts even in the case in which the edges of the dress should rise more than expected due to the heat. In winter, tights can also be used, preferably flesh-colored. Parisian and stockings are certainly sexy, but in Latin American, they invariably never stay in place.
In the beautiful Latinos, you can choose both whole and broken dresses. A tight jumpsuit or a catsuit, or simply leggings with the body over it, can be very comfortable because they always tend to maintain the position. Still, many prefer to combine a very short skirt, which covers little more than the hips and a top, to have the waist free to move for the most difficult parts of the various figures, in which the torso and hips often follow different directions. Actually, the best solution would be to adapt the look to the individual dances, but this is not always possible. For example, in other cases, for a tango, however, the skirt must be decidedly longer and binding, for example.
For the hairstyle, a ponytail or a chignon is preferable because they are less uncomfortable than others. To better maintain the hairstyle, it is also possible to use gels, even with glitter, choosing to literally glue the hair to the head to give a greater sense of uniformity and dynamism: bracelets, earrings with a secure closure, perhaps even a huge ring. In short, everything that is flashy is accessories to be evaluated. The final step to decide carefully is the choice of shoes. The heel is mandatory, but there are some tricks to avoid getting blistered and sore feet at the end of the evening. Never exceed 8-10 cm of the heel.
Avoid the extreme ones like the infamous 15 heel, which is only good for photos. When choosing it, opt for a wide base and a shoe with a non-slip sole specially designed for dance. You can also wear boots, but it is advisable to carefully choose the combination with the clothes to maintain a sensual and elegant balance. However, it always depends on the context, and in some cases, you can even select the thigh ones, especially for themed events. The most elegant shoes remain those with heels and the clasp closure, or sandals. The important thing is that the fingers remain in sight.
Linearity always wins. Avoid flashy and off-topic choices. Better the classic.
